Dikson
The seaport of Dikson is located in the south-western part of the Kara Sea near the mouth of the Yenisey River. Summer marine navigation is possible from the middle of August until the end of September. Winter navigation is possible all year round with assistance of the icebreaker fleet. The port’s objective is to provide viability of the settlement of Dikson, Arctic expeditions and polar stations. MUE Dikson Sea Commercial Port is involved in handling of cargoes at the port. The basis of cargo turnover is general cargoes, timber freights, coal, gravel, sand, and oil products. During summer navigation local passenger transportations are carried out. The Dikson port owns 8 mooring berths located at the main pier, in Portovaya Bay, and on the islands of Dikson and Konus. The depth near the mooring berths is 15 metres and allows for loading operations from vessels with l/c of up to 50 thousand tons.
